Irradiation services at a panoramic 60Co gamma radiation facility
The Radiation Chemistry and Dosimetry Laboratory is certified in accordance with the requirements of the standard EN ISO13485:2016 for the scope of Methods for sterilization of medical products/Sterilization by irradiation/Treatment of medical devices and health care products using gamma irradiation for sterilization as of January 13, 2021.
We offer the following irradiation services on a panoramic irradiator with a 60Co gamma ray source:
1. Sterilization of disposable medical equipment and accessories
- that come into direct contact with the patient: endoprostheses, scalpels, lancets, hypodermic needles, hypodermic syringes, aspirators, catheters, brachytherapy applicators, wound dressings), umbilical cord clamps, swabs, gloves, bags, bed linen, gowns;
- that do not come into direct contact with the patient: laboratory glassware/plasticware/supplies (Petri dishes, specimen vials, containers, bags, pipettes), covers, masks;
2. Sterilization and pasteurization of pharmaceutical raw materials, excipients, finished products and packaging, as well as of related products
- antibiotics in powder form, hard gelatin capsules, ointments, droppers for eye drops, lactose, cellulose, starch, plant extracts, tubes, applicators;
3. Pasteurization of cosmetic and related materials, raw materials, finished products, and packaging
- pigments, abrasives, shampoos, ointments, wipes, sprayers, tubes, applicators;
4. Microbiological decontamination and pasteurization of food, raw materials and packaging
- dried tea herbs, spices and aromatic herbs (red bell pepper (paprika powder), peppers, dried onions, garlic, oregano, etc.)
- powdered eggs, frozen eggs and egg products
- fruits (nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts), poppy seeds, rice, sesame seeds, etc.)
- dried fruits and vegetables
- plant extracts
- food for animals
- cosmetic products and toiletries
- packaging (caps, closures)
- horticultural substrates
5. Decontamination and disinfection of cultural heritage objects and art objects made of wood, paper, leather, textiles, straw
- sculptures, furniture, pictures, frames, musical instruments, clothes, shoes, documents, books
6. Radiation hardness testing of different materials
The panoramic irradiator is located in the Radiation Chemistry and Dosimetry Laboratory, CK-II, basement.
