Announcing the 2024 Fundamental Genomics Conference in Rovinj - Applications for Travel Grants Now Open
The European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EEMGS) in collaboration with the Croatian Genetic Society is thrilled to announce the upcoming 2024 conference titled “Fundamental Genomics. New Approaches. Solutions for the Changing Environment and Human Health'' taking place from 23 - 27 September in Rovinj, Croatia. Additionally, a call for applications has been announced to support the participation of PhD students and postdocs in the EEMGS 2024 congress, with the application deadline set for 15 April 2024.
This Conference will focus on groundbreaking research in genomics, environmental sciences, and mutagenesis, bringing together minds from academia, industry, and regulatory bodies to discuss advancements and challenges in these fields.
This event is organized under the auspices of the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, the Ruđer Bošković Institute, and supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board.
Apply for EEMGS 2024 Congress Participation Support
This opportunity is aimed at emerging scientists, specifically Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers, who are also members of the HGD. Applicants are required to submit an abstract for presentation at the congress, alongside a concise CV and a motivation letter via gkules@pbf.hr.
Conference Highlights and Topics
The conference will cover a wide array of topics, including but not limited to advances in regulatory genotoxicology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, cancer research omics, climate change, DNA structure, stability, repair, ecotoxicology, epigenetics, evolutionary genetics, food and nutrition omics, and many more. Special emphasis will be placed on error-corrected next-generation sequencing, immunology omics, microbiology omics, machine learning, natural products, pharmaceutics omics, risk assessment, and the latest challenges in genotoxicity assessment.

The conference will feature an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Rosa Karlić from the University of Zagreb, Tomislav Maričić from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Marcus S. Cooke from the University of South Florida, and many other distinguished experts from around the globe. Their insights will undoubtedly enrich the conference's discourse and inspire innovative solutions for pressing environmental and health challenges.
Special Events: HESI Workshop and ICAW
Preceding the main conference, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a HESI workshop designed to offer hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of key topics. Additionally, the International Comet Assay Workshop (ICAW) will be integrated into the final days of the conference, providing a unique platform for researchers to share their findings and techniques. The Croatian Genetic Society has announced a call for applications to support participation in the EEMGS 2024 congress by covering the registration fees. This call is aimed at emerging scientists, specifically Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral researchers, who are also members of the HGD. Applicants are required to submit an abstract for presentation at the congress, alongside a concise CV and a motivation letter, to the HGD's administrative secretary via gkules@pbf.hr.
