Inovative microscopy protocols for interdisciplinary research in biomedicine
Project objectives are to develop innovative microscopy protocols and implement new research on cell structures. The project will, for the first time in Croatia, lay the foundation for new methods in biomedicine based on superresolution microscopy and state-of-the-art technology, and present new research in cell structures.
The project is implemented in two phases. The results of the first phase of research will lead to the establishment of an innovative microscopy protocol that we will use in further analysis of cells in the second phase of research. An optimal inventive protocol for observing living cells with a superresolution microscope (STED) will be developed to observe any human tumor or normal cell lines and to observe the effect of cytostatics and similar inhibitors on the development of tumor or normal human cell lines. Project results on research of cellular structures at a better level of resolution and new protocols in microscopy will enable further research on how certain drugs, various chemical compounds or viruses and bacteria affect the processes in a living cell.
