„Metal-Free Catalysts for Small Molecules' Activation - Design and Synthesis"
Principal investigator
Within this project we plant to investigate the unexpected property of some protonated bisphosphines to act as strong hydride donors potentially capable of reducing CO₂ molecules. Furthermore, we will investigate whether it is possible to close the catalytic cycle of CO₂ reduction through heterolytic cleavage of hydrogen molecules via the formation of frustrated Lewis pairs, resulting in the formation of formic acid and regeneration of the bisphosphine catalyst.
