This project enables the introduction of innovative methods and technologies and a few new

experimental methods; purchase of very necessary capital equipment; keeping currently employed

young researchers in Croatia also as employing new young researchers; involvement and education of young researchers through our doctoral studies of Neuroscience, cooperation with leading clinical

institutes and a wide network of foreign collaborating laboratories; ensuring enough funds for

publishing results in leading foreign journals as well as dissemination and communication with the

public using already established instruments (Croatian Society for Neuroscience, Croatian Brain

Council, Brain awareness week in Croatia, etc.).

This project fits perfectly with the strategic goals of the Croatian Smart specialization strategies (S3), as follows:

a) Thematic priority aria, „Health, and life quality’’,

b) Sub-thematic priority aria PTPP2: Health services and new methods of preventive medicine and diagnostics (entirely – in particular as part of indicative IRI topics, new diagnostics and therapeutic tools and applications’’, ‘’equipment, systems, applications, and solutions which are used in research and testing new ways of treatment and diagnostics and monitoring changes connected to diseases,’’ ‘’regenerative medicine and tissue engineering’’, and ‘’development of smart toys and applications for mobile and smart devices for kids to educate, prevent, and detect diseases’’), as well as PTPP1: Pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, medicine equipment, and devices (in

particular as part of indicative IRI topics, development of new medicine technology, and protocol/procedure).
