Bilateral MZO-DAAD project (2021-2022): "Nova generacija mgnetskih MOF kompozita temeljena na kontroliranom izoliranju odabranih endofulerena
Glavni istraživač
The main goal of this project is preparation and thorough characterization of new magnetic metalo-organic framework (MOF) materials based on the efficient spatial resolution of selected molecular magnets, such as endofulerenes or polyoxometalates (POMs), in collaboration between Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) and Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb (RBI Zagreb).
The two institutions have complementary expertise that will ensure the successful implementation of the project goals. IFW Dresden has an expertise in preparation of magnetic endofulerenes, different kind of spectroscopies, magnetometry and modelling. Also, IFW Dresden is equipped with instrumentation not available in Republic of Croatia, such as High-Field/High Frequency Electron Spin Resonance (HF-ESR), solid-state UV-vis spectrometer, and electron microscopy. RBI Zagreb has an expertise in solid-state synthesis of MOFs and MOF composites, that will be decisive for preparation of MOF composites containing chosen amount of molecular magnets confined inside of the MOF. RBI group also has an expertise in solid-state characterization of the said materials with FTIR spectroscopy, solid-state NMR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, CW and FT X-band ESR spectroscopy.
The obtained new porous MOF materials with controlled ratio and distribution of active magnetic centers and their thorough characterization will further push the boundaries of magnetic MOF materials, which are already considered for advanced spintronics application, for example in quantum computing.
