Device for Non-Contact Detection of Defects in Solar Cells, NPOO.C3.2.R3-I1.05.0252
Principal investigator
A device for the non-contact detection and characterisation of defects in silicon-based solar cells and modules is being developed using photoluminescence, electroluminescence and infrared thermography.
The captured images are automatically analysed by a software solution based on artificial intelligence, which is able to identify specific defects that can potentially reduce the efficiency of solar cells. The device is suitable for use in the laboratory as well as in the production process during the assembly of photovoltaic modules and for the inspection of installed modules under outdoor, operational conditions. The system will consist of two main components: an image acquisition module and a computer programme for automatic image processing and analysis.
