Branimir Bertoša received Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists
At the Session, held on 18 February 2009, the Board of Governors of the Society of University Teachers, Scholars and Other Scientists, Zagreb, honoured dr. Branimir Bertoša with the Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists.
The successful chemist and his colleagues evoked wide media interest already last year when they published Mechanism of Auxin Interaction with Auxin Binding Protein (ABP1): A Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study. In this paper, dr. Bertoša applied the random acceleration molecular dynamics (RAMD) method to study the auxin binding protein dynamics. Auxin is a plant hormone and plays a crucial role in plant growth and development. The study appeared on the cover of the prestigious scientific journal Biophysical Journal. This discovery will surely find its place in the field of agricultural biotechnology and environment protection.
The Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists was established with an aim to encourage and foster scientific and artistic endeavours. It is granted to young scientific researchers and artists. The award presentation ceremony will be held at the Mimara Museum in Zagreb at 6 p.m. on the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the Society of University Teachers, Scholars and Other Scientists.
