Nena Peran Awarded for Poster Presentation
Dr. Nena Peran, research assistant in the Group for Quantum Organic Chemistry (GQOC), Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, was awarded with the Best Poster Prize for her contribution entitled "Basicity of Organic Superbases with Vinamidine Structure in Gas Phase and Acetonitrile – a DFT Study" at the international conference The 13th European Symposium on Organic Reactivity (13th ESOR). With the poster, she presented the computational study of organic superbases based on vinamidine, a well known superbase, both in the gas phase and acetonitrile.
The ESOR conference series started in 1987, when the meeting was organized in Paris. In 2001 it was held in Cavtat, Croatia. This series of biennial conferences has served as an important international gathering of the foremost experts in the field of physical organic chemistry. This year's ESOR was attended by scientists from all across Europe, as well as those from Russia, the USA, Japan, South Korea, India, Canada, Taiwan, Iran and Chile.
Over 40 young doctoral students participated with their posters at the meeting in Tartu, Estonia, and three posters prizes were awarded.
