Presentation of career opportunities for young scientists within the DONES project
We’re thrilled to invite all interested parties, especially young researchers and scientists, to the presentation of career opportunities for young scientists within the DONES project, which will be held on October 2, 2024, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the House of Europe (Augusta Cesarca 4, Zagreb).
IFMIF DONES (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility – Demo Oriented Neutron Source) is a single-sited novel research infrastructure for testing, validation and qualification of the materials to be used in future fusion power plants like DEMO (a demonstration fusion reactor prototype). It is, for the moment, a joint project of Spain and Croatia but a European project by nature.
These facilities are being constructed in Granada (Spain) with the expertise, among others, of both Spanish and Croatian researchers and scientists. As part of the project, a range of cutting-edge and often completely new equipment is being designed and developed, from detectors to remote-controlled cranes—making this an incredible opportunity for young researchers interested in pioneering technology.
The Ruđer Bošković Institute is proud to be the official Croatian implementation agency for DONES. Together with the Institute of Physics and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, we form the DONES.HR consortium, working intensively to shape Croatia's contribution to sustainable fusion energy.
This is a field with great potential and job opportunities for young researchers here in Croatia. In the panel we will share with the audience some views and opinions of four young scientists from Croatia and Spain who are already involved in the project.
