RBI Scientists Granted EU FP7 Project SOWAEUMED

RBI Scientists from the Laboratory for the Measurement of Low-Level Radioactivity (LNA) have been granted a three-year European Commission project called SOWAEUMED (Network in Solid Waste and Water Treatment between Europe and Mediterranean Countries) under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7).

The purpose of the EUR 97.995 project is to establish cooperation in creating a strategic partnership among scientists, science managers and industrial experts in EU countries, associate countries and Mediterranean countries in the development and application of solid waste and water treatment technologies.

As part of the project, which was launched on December 1, 2009, LNA scientists will present a case study aimed at protecting the waters and the environment of Plitvice National Park. Partners in the project are scientists from Spain, Sweden, Morocco and Tunisia.
