The Director General of the Ruđer Bošković Institute Comments on the Election Campaign
The Director General of the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Dr. Danica Ramljak, wrote a very interesting commentary in the November 22, 2011 issue of the daily newspaper Večernji list, entitled: “Science, Forgotten Again,” about how politicians are avoiding the topic of the importance of education, science and innovation to the future of Croatia in their public appearances during the election campaign.
"Instead of explaining daily to the nation about the paramount importance of science to every person in terms of the environment, health, water, food, climate change, children, energy and high quality new jobs, which should be strategically in the first place within the Program of National Recovery and Development of the new government that Croatia will soon elect, it seems, nevertheless, that it is preferable to deal with the past and already hackneyed divisions into red and black“, commented Dr. Ramljak.
