The Ruđer Bošković Institute Initiates Collaboration With the Prestigious Weizmann Institute in Israel
The official Croatian delegation, consisting of the Croatian Ambassador in Israel, Zorica Matković, the General Director of the RBI, Danica Ramljak, PhD, and the Director's Advisor for International Collaboration at the RBI, Mary Sopta, PhD, visited the Weizmann Institute in Israel today. To mark the occasion, the Croatian national flag was flown, full mast, alongside its Israeli counterpart.
The delegation was received by the President of host institution, Professor Daniel Zajfman and his associates. The Weizmann Institute is one of the world's most prestigious institutes in the field of natural sciences and the Ruđer Bošković Institute is the leading institution in Croatia. Dr. Zajfman and dr. Ramljak discussed possibilities of embarking upon cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as participation in joint scientific projects, exchange of experts, including short secondments of prominent scholars from Weizmann to assist in the actual international evaluation at the RBI, joint scientific workshops, postdoctoral training of RBI scientists at Weizmann and numerous other projects that could help in establishing long-term cooperation between the two institutions.
This collaboration is designed to increase the quality of research at the RBI as part of the strategic effort of the Institute aimed at establishing itself as a future European center of excellence. Apart from establishing a clear scientific link with one of the best research institutions in the world, the initiative also represents an excellent contribution to the already fruitful cooperation between Croatia and Israel.
