2nd Symposium on “Anchialine Ecosystems”
Inspired by the success of a 1st Symposium on “Anchialine Ecosystems: Reflection and Prospects”, that was held in Palma de Mallorca 2009*, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2nd Symposium on “Anchialine Ecosystems” in Cavtat, Croatia, on 3-6 October, 2012.
The site of symposium, Iberostar Albatros hotel in Cavtat, provides a central venue with excellent conference facilities and catering. It lies in the vicinity of the famous Anchialine cave “Šipun” (the type locality of officially described 18 taxa). Center of this area is world wide known historical city of Dubrovnik.

Scope and Topics
The aim of the 2nd Symposium is to further promote the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach to these unique environments that was initiated by the 1st Symposium, and to bring together, again, the researches that work on various aspects of anchialine ecosystems.
The preliminary topics are:

- Biotic community assemblages
- Phylogenetics and historical biogeography
- Biodiversity and evolution – from ancient relicts to neocolonists
