Awards for work on the UKF project
05. srpnja 2010. - Dr. Vjekoslav Štrukil, senior assistant at the Laboratory for Physical-Organic Chemistry, Ruđer Bošković Institute, won a CrystEngComm Poster Prize for a poster presentation entitled "Mechanochemical Synthesis of Zinc and Cadmium Metal-Organic Frameworks – The Story of Dimensionality and Solid-State Reactivity", at the XX International Conference on the Chemistry of the Organic Solid State, held from June 26 to 30, 2011, in Bangalore, India
A total of nine prizes were awarded in a competition of 95 poster presentations. The winning poster presented results of an investigation conducted within the UKF project entitled "Mechanochemistry for the clean and efficient metal-catalysed synthesis of pharmaceutical targets and the study of their molecular recognition". The paper describes the use of a vibratory mill in the mechanochemical synthesis of metal complexes of cyanoguanidine, with which it is possible to control the topological properties of coordination polymers in a simple manner.
The conference was organized by Prof. T. N. Guru Row (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore), and was attended by over 200 researchers from around the world. Lectures were presented by approximately 30 leading scientists in the fields of organic solid state chemistry and crystal engineering.
December 21st, 2010.- The annual Director's Prize were awarded to Dr. Vjekoslav Štrukil and Dr. Mirjana Eckert-Maksić for UKF project and for publication in Chem. Comm. - high impact journal, respectively.
