Adriatic coastal areas science-based solutions for climate adaptation (AdriaClimPlus)
AdriaClimPlus is dedicated to tackling the pressing challenges posed by climate change within the IT-HR Programme area, which encompasses both the Italian and Croatian sides of the Adriatic Sea. The region faces significant threats such as sea-level rise, coastal erosion, and extreme weather events that endanger its rich cultural and natural heritage.
The lead partner organisation is the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change Foundation (ITA), while the other partners are the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ITA), Zadar County Development Agency ZADRA NOVA (HR), the Regional Agency for Prevention, Environment and Energy of Emilia-Romagna (ITA), Ruđer Bošković Institute (HR), Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds (HR), and the University of Bologna (ITA).
Global science of meteotsunamis: from planetary to mesoscale processes (GLOMETS)
The GLOMETS proposal aims to advance the knowledge on both planetary meteotsunami events and local weather-generated sea level oscillations, gathering all available measurements and numerical tools in researching: (1) global meteotsunami hazards from explosive volcanic eruptions and asteroid impacts, (2) meteotsunami hazards at the sub-kilometre scale from both weather- and explosive volcano-induced events, (3) reproducibility of meteotsunami hazard by climate models, for their eventual assessment in the future climate, (4) eventual optimization and improvement of the meteotsunami monitoring, and (5) developing stochastic techniques for meteotsunami uncertainty quantification.
