At the 180th conference of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, held on May 5 2010 in Budapest, the President of the Hungarian Academy of Science, Professor József Palinkas awarded Dr. Karolj Skala, RBI's head of the Center for Informatics and Computing with a medal for scientific research and international cooperation.

This lecture is being held at the invitation of RBI Director-General Dr. Danica Ramljak on May 19th at 11:00 am in the Lecture hall in Wing III, RBI, Bijenička 54, Zagreb.

RBI Scientists Published an Article in GENETICS

RBI scientists Fran Supek and Dr. Tomislav Šmuc from the Computational biology and informatics group, Division of Electronics have published a research article entitled On Relevance of Codon Usage to Expression of Synthetic and Natural Genes in Escherichia coli in the prestigious journal Genetics, a publication of the Genetics Society of America.

The RBI Open House Ends

For the fourth year in a row an Open House at the Ruđer Bošković Institute was held from May 6th to 8th. This years event attracted over 4500 visitors, not only from Zagreb County and Zagreb, but also from all over Croatia and neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pezcoller Foundation-AACR International Award for Cancer Research Recognizes Joseph Schlessinger, PhD

Joseph Schlessinger, PhD, member of the RBI International Scientific Board, will receive the Pezcoller Foundation-AACR International Award for Cancer Research for elucidating the mechanism of action of receptor tyrosine kinases and their intracellular signaling pathways which led to discovery of new families of cancer drugs for the treatment of renal cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

RBI Director General Dr. Danica Ramljak Will Participate in the IX. Knowledge Economy Forum Organized by the World Bank in Berlin

RBI Director General Dr. Danica Ramljak has left today for a three-day forum organized by the World Bank entitled the Knowledge Economy Forum IX - Diversification Through Knowledge. The forum will be held in Berlin from May 5 to 7, 2010. During her stay in Berlin Dr. Ramljak will meet with the president of the Humboldt Foundation Prof. Dr. Helmut Schwarz and Croatia’s Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Mijo Kovač.

Open House at the Ruđer Bošković Institute
